If you haven’t been paying attention the fruits of the socialist “defund the police” movement in Minneapolis is paying deadly dividends. As I typed this another murder happened in North Minneapolis, according to CBS news, to bring the total over the 185 reported shootings (up 150%) and 27 murders (up 100%). When it gets hot and the days get longer the numbers will sky rocket.
The Minneapolis Police have long had a questionable record of accountability, poor management by the city political system, and a trail of lawsuit settlements, but after George Floyd’s death the blanket attacks on the rank and file by the city political leaders has the force down by half of target levels. Cops are refusing to apply, quitting, retiring early, and taking a medical out. To make matters worse, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman is trying to smooth the furor of the rage left for screwing up the initial George Floyd police case. Mike has decided to pander and apologize to the “social justice” mob by letting career criminals back out on the streets after arrest with his new No Bail No Jail policies.
Rocks & Cows has said several times that Minneapolis made it’s bed and must lie in it. That should have been thoroughly explained to mean the progressive liberals that support and run the Minneapolis DFL political machine driving the radical change did this to themselves. The paid by the hour, steel toe boot, and service worker folks didn’t ask for this or do this. But they are paying the price for “social justice” liberals experimenting their insane new political religion on the City of Minneapolis. Its a price that is now costing them their little children. IN THE LAST 10 DAYS 3 MPLS GRADE SCHOOL KIDS HAVE BEEN SHOT IN THE HEAD. La’Davionne Garrett and Trinity Smith are in ICU now, and Aniya Allen was shot Monday and died Wednesday. Aniya was shot RIGHT AFTER a press conference demanding police action to prevent another child being shot!
After the first child was shot I heard from Reverend Timothy Christopher of N. Minneapolis that the crime wave and shootings were out of control. He had just visited the family of the victim. A community press conference of leaders and preachers had occurred and Mayor Frey showed up to pay lip service to the problem, but no other DFL leaders showed up. Rev Tim hoped Rocks & Cows could get Republican officials to meet the families and put out a call to Governor Walz for immediate help, or use the budget negotiations to push Walz into action. Other pastors and retired community DFL politicians reached out to Walz hoping a Governor with emergency powers would act like the murder wave that started killing children was an emergency and send help. NEITHER PARTY SENT ANY LEADERS. THEY WERE TOO BUSY ARGUING OVER WHO GOT TO SPEND $52 BILLION OF OUR MONEY IN BUDGET TALKS. Gazelka and Walz were both too busy splitting up our money and ignoring their voters, WE THE PEOPLE, to be bothered by something trivial like children getting shot every few days. 2 more shot kids since then and nothing has changed. Nobody has shown up and declared a doubled murder rate or shot children an emergency. I don’t agree with many if any of the political solutions of the activist left. The one thing we do share in common is being outraged to finally figure out the people we put in office: make lots of promises, never deliver, make more empty promises, and usually spend oodles of our money for “solutions” that always seem to benefit rich people and government instead of us.
The families of the shot children gather every day, 6pm, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale for a prayer vigil to hope for God’s help to heal their babies and their community. The community leaders and preachers are getting desperate enough that they are going to start community/church safety patrols on their own if they cant get state or city help. This just another example of regular people in all corners of the state that aren’t social activists or government employees getting ignored by the political leadership of both parties.
To fix the murder wave in Minneapolis, or get anything else done for regular people, it seems the politicians will need to be forced to do it by the voters. Governor Walz can send State Troopers to assist Minneapolis Police to arrest gun criminals and put safety in tough neighborhoods. Walz can ask the U S Attorney to prosecute federal gun law violators, pressure Deadbeat Mike Freeman to do his job, and direct AG Keith Ellison to help prosecute the arrested criminals. Republican Senate Leader Paul Gazelka can meet the moms and preachers and tell them Walz will not get a Public Safety Department or Attorney General budget until he forces them into action. Mayor Frey finally announced a plan of action after 27 murders and 3 kids shot, but the plan will be weak due to DFL defund the police crazies on city council second guessing the plan. To end this insanity Walz needs to stop the mess he allowed to get rolling by ignoring this problem and pandering to the DFL forces that advocated for tearing down public safety. It wont get done unless we make them do it!
Governor Walz, take charge and cooperate with Mpls to arrest and prosecute gun criminals and bring safety to children and families! 651-201-3400
Senator Paul Gazelka, demand the Governor takes action to stop the murder wave before funding the Public Safety budget! 651-296-4875
A friend of Rocks & Cows, first known to us as a staunch friend and supporter of all 2A people and 2A rights throughout Minnesota, Reverend Timothy Christopher of Berean Baptist in N. Minneapolis is one of the people on the ground to help the families of the shot children. His charity Shepherds Works helps veterans, homeless, and has special programs for the children in North Minneapolis. Because of his outreach and charity work for the little kids this series of tragedies hits him in his own community and he takes personal responsibility to be there and make a difference when called upon. YOU CAN HELP REVEREND TIM HELP THE FAMILIES AND THE KIDS IN HIS COMMUNITY AT THE DONATE BUTTON ON HIS FRONT PAGE.
Let us hope the call for help and the families prayers are heard and we don’t repeat this story as summer comes. SUBSCRIBE to Rocks and Cows to know what is going on and hear it first.
Be louder. Wish I could contribute. Always have my prayers.
