BOTH IRON RANGE SENATORS PROVED OUR MAIN CAMPAIGN THEME, THAT THE MPLS DFL IS AT WAR WITH GREATER MN AND ARE NOT FOR THE PPL, AND THEY LEFT THE PARTY ATTACKING THEIR DISTRICTS.

Iron Range DFL Senators Tom Bakk from Cook, and David Tomasonni from Chisholm, both left the DFL party yesterday.

The “Minneapolis DFL” under Governor Walz and/or through its partner environmental orgs has attacked in regulation, taxes, or lawsuits: mining, pipelines, row crop ag interests, dairies, sand pit operators, trucking, scrap metal yards, logging, paper mills, feedlots, oil refineries, and atv users/manufacturers. Nowhere has the attack been more focused and in quantity than on the Iron Range. The leaders of the Mpls DFL are 100% from the metro and 100% supporters of the “Green New Deal” and have gone to extreme lengths to attack mining, including: suing the coal power plant complex powering the Range, suing the gas power plant that would replace the coal plant, suing the pipeline that carries gas to power a future Range power plant, suing the EPA to impose new mercury regulations on iron mining, proposing bills for US Forest Service to stop land swaps with the iron mines, suing and screwing up the regulatory filings for Polymet and Twin Metals, pushing for bills in DC to stop heavy metal mining on the Range, and the state party itself officially took a position for a mining moratorium on the Range.

Senators Bakk and Tomasonni had the closest races this year in their careers because the people on the Range see the accusations against the Mpls DFL are true. The DFL has abandoned them and is proactively working against their interests.

Tom Bakk has been Rocks and Cows for a long time, and got his wake up call when the metro people took over the DFL 100% and fired him as Senate leader, and today is just the formal divorce. Tomassoni has decided there is no future in the DFL on the Range and that a Rocks and Cows agenda is his future. Welcome to the new Minnesota, a blue dot of Green New Deal crazy and the rest of us, the Rocks and Cows, the only real “One Minnesota”.
